Heatheresa Creations - Meet the Maker
In today's Meet the Maker, meet Heather from Heatheresa Creations
How did your business get its start?
My mom has always been into crocheting and sewing things for us for Christmas and when I started having kids I got into sewing. A couple years ago we decided to sign up for a craft fair and see what people thought and we ended up getting really good feedback so we decided to turn it into a regular thing.
What sparks your creativity most?
For me it's my kids and all the new things they are getting into as they get older. For my mom its creating things that are unique and bringing new colors to the things she makes. She is amazing at taking a pattern and altering it to make it unique.
What's the best thing about running your own business? What is the worst?
You make your own hours. I can sew or work on projects when I have time. The worst? Getting started. We are still struggling to get the hang of social media and sites like Etsy.
Share a funny story about your business.
Every time we have a craft fair my mom spills her coffee. No matter how careful she tries to be or where she puts it she finds a way to spill it. Its become a set up tradition.
What kind of music do you listen to while you create?
We actually prefer to watch TV.. We both like cooking shows or crime shows. Another favorite for us is horrible SyFy movies. If I listen to music its usually pandora and I have a mix of stations I shuffle through while I sew
Of all the products you create, which is your very favorite?
I would have to say the baby bonnets. My moms is the Mandela sweaters she makes. (They are beautiful!) Which is a customer favorite? I would say our kids aprons and our newsboy style hats have been the favorite this year so far. I feel like it honestly changes every fair we do.
What are you looking forward to about the Market?
Getting some feedback on a few new things we are working on.
Heatheresa will be joining us at the market at the Arapahoe County Fair.
